I've been looking into it, and found some cool vids!

I worry about the #copyright infringements there, and hope it never gets attacked by companies claiming stupid copyright infringements like they do at Youtube, because it would be such a mess...

    Anyway, ethicalities first:

I very much appreciate that people are uploading talks, music and short projects such as animations, dance videos, music, etc. But I can never be sure if these videos are indeed theirs, and I'd like to find people's #owncontent, to find what people can really do "no attachments to companies and capitalism". That is my interest and view, of course.

    • Problem is if those who own everything of the content explicity say they own, and it becomes a "code" to say so, well, copyright infringements can be carried with much more ease, and that actually pressures the whole community to a single objective, which is to own all content. And, knowing the so-called system, once all are prosecuted, they will find tinier and tinier details to prosecute and fuck people over. So users and servers should agree what they want for their uploads, and that influences directly into federation policies (as in "agreements", agreeing with each other, not documentation). So the legal aspect of it must be discussed pronto, to preserve uploaders and servers around the world.

On further notes, I acknowledge there are much discussion about #copyleft, #mashup, remix, "I bought this Vinyl I am playing", "all property is theft" but we are not quite there yet. I believe we should find commonground to survive company harassment and build the new until #freedom is at hands finally.

    • If they agree on mixing copyrighted material and people uploading their own content, I'd personally like to join servers that doesn't (or make my own). Which brings the question: If I upload my music to server X, and X is federated, how people at Y will know I own this content? If they can't, should Y stop federation with X altogether? If Z doesn't care for copyrighted material, could X and Y stop federation with Z and be accused of censorship of people that posts their own content to Z?

If it comes to a separation of owned-content only servers, will users who own their content feel personally damaged because they uploaded their content to Z, and now aren't being viewed by X and Y? And if this separation is done, does that make it easy for companies to shut down the other servers, thus undermining the more than 300 servers out there? Should I talk to a therapist to treat my rambling and pedantism? (joke's on you, I already do)

    Technicalities now:

    • I've been surfing a little on some servers, and picked some videos to search on other servers, to test #federation, and I can atest that not every server is federated. I'm not nitpicking of course, I tested it throughly. Is there any servers you recommend? Also, is it a project at all to federate every server?
    • Countries and language: I'd love to see closed captions soon! I'd suggest a feature to tag by country or language or none if the uploader chooses so. Maybe it could be a practice to tag it, though it is a work-around.

I'd love to discuss and talk about it further! That said, I leave a video that I found today, enjoy!
